- Same here. Don't expect to get your money back. At least not
- for a loooooooooooooooooong time.
- I bought an A2500 from someone. They shipped it TO HIM 2 or
- three times, until they finally got it off to me. I am in
- college, and the USPS are the only package delivery people who
- will not ship to my mailroom if an item is COD. So I walk
- about a mile to the post office, wait in line, etc. (You know
- what I mean if you've visited the PO lately...) Then they
- finally go back and bring out my package. It is in a box that
- is completely split and looks like it is about to just
- collapse. It is stained brown like they lost it for a few
- years in some third world country. I open it and they have
- broken the mouse (yes the plastic parts, not the electronic
- ones--there was a HOLE in the mouse!), knocked loose a chip on
- the motherboard so it was floating around, broken the front
- drive panel, dented the case so that no boards will fit in the
- slot, and gotten water all over everything.
- I was finally told that if I wanted to file a claim, I would
- have to take the computer to the MAIN post office, which is
- about 5 miles away and just happened to conveniently close. To
- make things worse, I couldn't even leave the package there
- overnight and then pick it up the next day on my way to the
- main PO because they 'couldn't be responsible for it' !! The
- bloody thing was ALREADY broken and I didn't even pay the COD
- charges. WHat the hell??
- Anyway, I lugged the thing back home in the bus, but still had
- to walk about 1/4 mile. The bloody thing was tearing my arms
- from their sockets, so I ran over to the bookstore to borrow
- one of their hand trucks. I loaded the package on it and
- pulled it home. Fortunately nobody stole it while I was at the
- bookstore. I got a friend to give me a lift to the main PO.
- That was pure luck, since first-years aren't even supposed to
- have cars at school.
- I finally got it over there and after about a half an hour and
- much paperwork, I was on my way back home..
- This was before XMAS. I went home for a month. Then I came
- back. A few days later, I got a letter from the USPS asking
- for the originalshipping receipt. Hopefully the guy still has
- it. He said he would fax it to me. I got another letter
- thathad a spot for my signature and instructed me to simply
- sign it and send it back in.. I doubt I will ever get anything
- from them. Unfortunately, the one who loses is the guy that
- shipped me the thing in the first place! I should have just
- told them to send it back to him, but I thought this would be
- simpler.
- HA!
- The USPS is NEVER simple!
- Stick with FedEx, or if you must, UPS!
